Camp Families,
I hope this message finds you and your family in good health. Please know that the YMCA Camp Eberhart family is thinking of those in our communities who are struggling through the wide range of challenges that have arisen as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With guidance from the American Camp Association, YMCA of the USA, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and our local health department, we have made the difficult decision to cancel youth summer overnight camp programming for 2020.
For 111 years, Camp Eberhart has strived to provide a safe, fun, and unforgettable camp experience and has never gone a summer without campers and summer staff filling camp with songs and activities.
Overnight camp, by its nature and design, is a social experience. When we take a step back and look at where camp memories are made: campfires, Blue Moon Wish, capture the flag, swimming, sailing, high ropes, and open period, we see these times as the promotion of social proximity, not social distancing. While every camp location is different and accommodates diverse situations uniquely, we feel that Camp Eberhart’s programs could not be delivered at the high-quality we promise and you expect, during this current time.
We remain hopeful that we will be able to run our day camp program and some smaller-scale family camping programs later in the summer.
Families who have children registered for this summer have the following options:
- Transfer Session/Payments to Summer 2021 — Session will transfer to identical session in 2021. There will be no fees applied to 2021 session changes made before March 1, 2021.
- Donate Registration Fees to Camp — You have the option to donate your full or partial registration fees.
- Receive a Full Refund — Receive back your deposit and fees.
There are many logistical details for us all to sort out as a result of this decision. The button below will take you to a Google Form where you can let us know how your family would like to proceed regarding your 2020 camp registration.
Please note that to ensure all requests are properly fulfilled, we ask they are received in writing. Please fill out the Google Form to provide information about your camper(s) and which of the options above you would like to move forward with. Please fill out one form per camper. Once you have completed this, we will reach out to you to process your request.
We will be back, better than ever when we know we can run the safest possible camp that we can. We are saving a spot for you in summer 2021 and can’t wait to see you there.
