Meet Heather Wilcox, the incredible Food Service and Housekeeping Director at YMCA Camp Eberhart! Since 2010, Heather has been making sure campers and staff are well-fed and Camp stays clean and welcoming. In 2024 alone, she and her team served over 55,220 meals—a true testament to their dedication!
Heather started as part-time kitchen staff before stepping into leadership, and now, 15 years later, she oversees everything from meal prep and food orders to camper mail and housekeeping. While summer days can be long—12 to 14 hours—she knows that keeping campers happy and nourished makes it all worth it.
Handling dietary needs is a big responsibility, and Heather takes pride in ensuring everyone has safe and delicious meal options. She believes success comes from training and communication, setting clear expectations and checking in with her team throughout the day. And while many think Camp is just a summer job, Heather works year-round to prepare for each season.
Heather doesn’t have just one favorite Camp memory—she treasures them all. She loves being part of what so many call their “happy place” and keeps the energy high with her signature radio call: "Heather to all staff, it’s a great day to have a great day! It’s _______ day!" The staff and campers cheer back, making every day a little brighter.
Thank you, Heather, for all you do to keep Camp running smoothly!
